Once the residence and offices to the Harbor Engineer in the mid-1800’s, Dock House Boutique & Spa is one of the Waterfront’s rare heritage sites – and a splendid example of Victorian architecture. Strategically situated upon a cliff with remarkable views of the harbor and ocean, Dock House Boutique Hotel & Spa shares its unique vantage point with another 19th century treasure, the Waterfront’s famous Timeball Tower. Erected in 1894, the Timeball Tower was once utilized as a maritime signaling device by Ship Masters who would use it to test the accuracy of their ships’ chronometers.
From the moment you set foot into the graceful Dock House Boutique Hotel & Spa entrance hall, you will experience our efficient, attentive yet unobtrusive 24-hour butler-style service. Enjoy the privacy of an in-room check-in, and later, take pleasure in being served superb cuisine and some of South Africa’s finest wines in the seclusion of your room. Breakfast is served in the elegant morning room, on your private balcony or alfresco around the pool – offering the perfect environments in which to begin your day. The morning room is also the ideal venue for private meetings or press conferences.
Dock House’s spacious suite opens onto its own private garden, while the other ground floor room opens onto a colonial-style veranda overlooking the main garden and swimming pool area. Upstairs, four rooms (two of which can interconnect if desired) share balconies with exquisite views of the Waterfront’s scenic harbour setting. The clean, minimalist lines of present-day design have been interwoven with restored wood, pressed ceilings and original cornices, while high speed wired and wireless internet connectivity, including access to a hi-tech computer station in the library, ensure that guests remain plugged-in to global communications.
