General information:

Hot Air Balloon season DAILY from about 20 November  to about 3 May

Meeting in Paarl at Grande Roche Hotel for the sunrise flight is about half an hour before sunrise, which must be 04:45 am  from November to February  – weather permitting and about 06:00 am from  March to April – exact time is given the day before with the weather report. We fly with 4 – 7 passengers in the basket – minimum is 4 passengers.

We will get a weather report a day before and will have an idea, if the flight can take place – weather permitting. There will be a wake-up call in the early morning of the flight as last confirmation but please make sure you call the operator before travelling to Paarl to the meeting point to avoid unnecessary disappointment. Escape 2 African and participarting suppliers and operators can not be held responsible for any travel expenses in case of a cancellation of the balloon flight.

After parking at the car park of Grande Roche Hotel, we will meet up and drive to the launchsite together. All passengers get involved in the rigging of the balloon, all help is appreciated. Please let us know, if anyone cannot support us in the rigging. While safety instructions are given by the pilot passengers have still time for some coffee. Then all passengers climb in the basket with the pilot and will be flying for about one hour with the wind. Passengers should be able to climb into the basket, feel comfortable to stand for about one hour, the landing might have an impact comparable to a jump from a chair.

The float with the wind is quiet and peaceful. Passengers will feel as free as a bird and enjoy the view to the Drakenstein mountain range and to Table Mountain in a distance. The flying area is in the winelands of the Boland and Swartland.

A retrieve vehicle will follow on the ground to join with the balloon after landing. After packing the equipment on the trailer we all enjoy some fruit juice before returning to Paarl,  where a sumptuous breakfast buffet and some excellent local MCC wine is waiting for us at Grande Roche Hotel.

The adventure experience Balloon Flight will take about 4-5 hours in total, ending after breakfast at Grande Roche Hotel.

To confirm any booking, we need to know names and weights of passengers and a contact number.

Passengers will get a Safety Instruction and Indemnity Form to be signed before the flight.

Please note: ballooning is a sportive event, best are practical clothes of natural fibres, jeans (long trousers preferred), tackies or walking shoes and a jersey for the early morning chill are recommended. Please no flipflops, no high heels.
